Nicanco Ministry Authorization Annulled

Nicanco Ministry Authorization Annulled

Hudson, October 5th, 2021 – The Town of Hudson has recently been made aware of a significant change in the housing development plans for the area known as Sandy Beach.

The Ministry of the Environment has revoked a certificate of authorization dating from 2014 permitting backfill of wetlands in the area to be developed. The developer, Nicanco Holdings, received notice of this from the Ministry on May 7 of this year.

The Town of Hudson is disappointed that Nicanco Holdings did not see fit to advise the Town of this development. The Town cannot see how the developer can proceed with the current development project, considering multiple housing units would now sit in areas forbidden by the Ministry.

In the interim, we have reached out to the developer to receive clarification of their intentions.
