Property visits

To comply with The Act respecting municipal taxation, the Town of Hudson must conduct an inventory of all properties on its territory at least once every nine years. An on-site visit ensures the accuracy of the existing data for each property. To this end, the evaluation firm “Les Estimateurs Professionnels Leroux, Beaudry, Picard & Associés inc.” has been mandated to conduct this year’s inventory.

To complete this year’s inventory, the Town has mandated the evaluation firm Les Estimateurs Professionnels Leroux, Beaudry, Picard & Associés inc. to conduct property visits throughout the territory. Evaluators began visiting properties in early July, with visits continuing until the end of the summer.

During these visits, evaluators will:

  • verify property characteristics and any visible changes made to buildings or land;
  • update property inventory records to ensure information remains accurate and current;
  • collect the information required to support fair, consistent property assessments that comply with professional standards.

Representatives from the firm will carry official photo identification as well as a letter of authorization signed by a designated Town representative.

Property visits are authorized between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Most property information can be verified from the exterior. However, when additional information is required, authorized evaluators may request access to the interior of a residence in accordance with the Act respecting municipal taxation. Exterior photographs may also be taken when required to complete the evaluation.

If no one is home at the time of the visit, the evaluator may leave a form for the property owner to complete and return to the address indicated on the form.
