Call for Proposals: Journées de la Culture 2026 in Hudson
As part of the 2026 Journées de la Culture, the Town of Hudson is seeking an artist, an artist collective, or a cultural non-profit organization to present artistic workshops across a variety of disciplines.
CONTEXT
Initiated and organized by Culture pour tous, the Journées de la Culture consist of three days of free, public activities designed to increase access to arts and culture. Mandated by the National Assembly, the event takes place annually across Quebec on the last Friday of September and the following two days. The theme of this 30th edition is: A Journey into the Heart of Cultural and Artistic Practices.
The program invites people to discover and celebrate culture in all its forms, with cultural mediation at its core. The thousands of activities that make up the event are organized by professional artists, artisans, cultural workers, business people, teachers, and community, municipal, and government workers from all backgrounds.
Although the Town is home to many talented creators, Hudson’s participation in the Journées de la Culture is relatively recent. We hope to expand the scope of our participation over the coming years; however, for 2026, Saturday, September 26 will serve as Hudson’s official day within the event.
The Town of Hudson is therefore seeking an artist, an artist collective, or a cultural non-profit organization to present workshops. Workshops may take place at the Hudson Community Centre, in Town-owned facilities or buildings, or in spaces owned by the artists or organizations themselves.
The Town wishes to offer workshops during three distinct time slots on Saturday, September 26, 2026—morning, afternoon, and evening—for a variety of audiences, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. While applications are welcome from people of all backgrounds, we are particularly interested in proposals in the following disciplines: performing arts, comic arts, visual arts, and crafts.
MANDATE FOR APPLICANTS
Present a workshop for one or more of the target audiences and disciplines listed above. Your workshop should aim to celebrate and promote culture. Preference will be given to workshops that encourage active participation rather than passive observation.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
- Possible workshop locations include the Hudson Community Centre (394 Main), other Town-owned facilities (such as Jack Layton Park or Maison Halcro), subject to availability, or venues owned by the artists, collectives, or organizations.
- Available workshop time slots are Morning (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.), Afternoon (1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.), and Evening (6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.).
- Depending on the location, certain equipment may be available. For example, the Community Centre is equipped with a projection screen and a sound system.
- Target audiences include children, teens, adults, and seniors.
- Workshops must be presented in both French and English.
- A budget of $547 plus applicable taxes per artist, per workshop, has been allocated.
TIMELINE
- The application deadline is Friday, July 24, at 12:00 p.m.
- Successful applicants will be notified no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 3.
- Workshops will take place on September 26, 2026.
PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Preference will be given, though not exclusively, to artists from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
