Call for applications: Ad Hoc Committee on Horticulture and Public Landscape Design

The Town of Hudson is currently looking for four (4) residents to form an ad hoc committee regarding horticulture and public landscape design. The term of office is six (6) months.

We invite horticulturists, landscape architects, gardening specialists and any citizen wishing to get involved to submit their application.

1. Committee mandate
The Ad Hoc Committee on Horticulture and Public Landscape Design acts in an advisory capacity and makes recommendations to Town Council. Its responsibilities are to;

  • Develop practical, easy-to-apply horticulture and public landscape design guidelines aligned with Hudson’s character, to support staff and contractors as municipal projects advance.
  • Improve the coherence, quality, and durability of plantings and landscaped public spaces.
  • Provide recommendations on plant selection, planting strategies, landscape composition, and maintenance considerations, with particular attention to upcoming capital projects such as Main Road East and the Mount Pleasant intersection.
  • Offer design input related to the implementation of the Parks & Greenspace Master Plan and the Conservation of Natural Areas Plan.

The Ad Hoc Committee acts in an advisory capacity only, has no decision-making authority, and is temporary, concluding its mandate upon delivery of its recommendations.

2. Composition of the committee
The committee is composed of:

  • Two (2) members of the municipal council.
  • Four (4) members of the community.
  • One (1) municipal employee (non-voting member).
  • The Mayor as ex officio member.

The Ad Hoc Committee will meet regularly once a month beginning in February 2026.

3. Desired profil
Candidates must be:

  • Motivated to contribute to the development of guidelines helping to improve horticulture and public landscape design.
  • Available to attend meetings.
  • Willing to commit to a 6-month term.
