Specific Directive on the Use of Another Language than French
The Town of Hudson, benefiting from its status as a bilingual municipality and as a recognized body under section 29.1 of the Charter of the French Language (CFL), makes use of the provisions set out in sections 23 to 26 of the CFL, which govern the use of a language other than French by an organization recognized under section 29.1 of the CFL. These sections address the language of signage, documents, service delivery, the use of technological means, internal communications, communications with other recognized organizations, and so on.
The specific linguistic directive adopted by the municipal council identifies additional situations beyond those provided for in sections 23 to 26 of the CFL. It allows for the use of a language other than French in situations not covered by its recognition under section 29.1 of the CFL. The adoption of this specific directive regarding the use of a language other than French meets a government requirement.
The Town of Hudson may therefore continue to offer all of its services in both French and English.
