04 Feb Public notice: Opening of the Register for Residents of Zone R-31 Regarding By-law 526.19.1-2025
Addressed to all qualified voters entitled to have their name entered on the referendum list of the Town of Hudson in the following sector:
Sector R-31.
PUBLIC NOTICE is, hereby, given by Renée Huneault, Assistant Town Clerk of the Town of Hudson, as follows:
1. At a meeting of Council held on January 27, 2026, the Council of the Town of Hudson adopted By-Law No 526.19.1-2025 entitled “By-Law No. 526.19.1-2025 to amend the Zoning By-Law in order to modify the provisions related to air conditioning units and heat pumps in zone R-31”.
2. Any qualified voter entitled to have his name entered on the referendum list of the sector of the Town of Hudson may demand that a referendum poll be held for this by-law, by entering his name, address and capacity in the register open for this purpose.
At the time they make the entries concerning them, qualified voters must establish their identity, with their face uncovered, by presenting one of the following documents:
• health insurance card, issued by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec;
• driver’s licence or probationary licence, issued by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec;
• Canadian passport;
• Certificate of Indian Status;
• Canadian Forces identification card.
3. This register will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Community Centre, located at 394 Main Road.
4. The number of signatures required, in respect of this By-Law, in order that a referendum poll be held is 96. If this number is not reached, this by-law will be deemed approved by the qualified voters.
5. The results of the registration procedure will be announced at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre on February 11, 2026 at 7:15 p.m.
6. The attached sketch illustrates the perimeter of the sector concerned.
7. This by-law may be consulted on the Town’s website as well as at the Town Hall, 481 Main, Hudson from Monday to Thursday between 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Conditions to be a qualified voter entitled to have his name entered on the referendum list:
8. Every person who, on January 27, 2026, is not disqualified from voting under section 524 of the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities and meets the following requirements:
• be a physical person domiciled in the Town of Hudson and have been domiciled for at least six (6) months in Québec and;
• be the age of majority and a Canadian citizen and not be disqualified from voting by virtue of a judgment rendered under section 288 of the Civil Code of Québec.
9. Every sole proprietor of a property or sole occupant of a business establishment who is not incapacitated to vote and meets the following conditions:
• be the owner of a property or sole occupant of a business establishment located in the town of Hudson at least since January, 27, 2026
• in the case of a physical person, be the age of majority and a Canadian citizen, and not be disqualified from voting by virtue of a judgment rendered under section 288 of the Civil Code of Québec.
10. Any undivided co-owner of a property or co-occupant of a business establishment in the Town of Hudson which has no incapacity to vote and meets the following conditions:
• be an undivided co-owner of a property or co-occupant of a business establishment located in the Town oh Hudson for at least since January 27, 2026;
• be designated by a power of attorney signed by the majority of the persons who are co-owners or co-occupants for at least since January 27, 2026, designated as the one who has the right to sign the register on their behalf and to be registered on the referendum list, should the case arise. This power of attorney must be produced before or during at the signing of the register;
• be the age of majority and a Canadian citizen and not be disqualified from voting by virtue of a judgment rendered under section 288 of the Civil Code of Québec.
11. A legal person must also have designated by resolution, from its members, administrators or employees, a person who, on January 27, 2026 and when exercising that right, is the age of majority and a Canadian citizen, who does not have any inability to vote as prescribed by Law.
12. A sole owner of more than one building or a sole occupant of more than one business establishment is entitled to be registered at the address of the building or business establishment having the greatest property or rental value.
13. A co-owner who is already entitled to have their name entered on the referendum list as a resident, owner of a building or occupant of a business establishment may not be designated.
14. A co-occupant who is already entitled to have their name entered on the referendum list as a domiciled person, owner of a building, occupant of a business establishment or undivided co-owner of a building may not be designated.
