31 May Watering restrictions in effect – May 31, 2023
Wednesday, May 31, 2023
Dear Residents,
Watering restrictions are now in effect throughout the municipality.
We understand this may cause inconvenience and concern, but we assure you that it is necessary to address an urgent situation. Here are the reasons which led to the water restrictions:
Preservation of Water Resources: The primary objective of these water restrictions is to conserve and protect our limited water resources. Due to a surge in demand and a lack of rainfall, we currently consume more water than we can produce, directly impacting our firefighting ability.
Mitigating Water Shortage: We can significantly reduce water usage throughout the community by implementing temporary water restrictions.
Watering restrictions apply to the following activities:
- Watering of lawns, trees, and shrubs,
- Filling of pools,
- Washing of vehicles, and
- The use of water outdoors, for whatever reason.
We have suspended the issuance of permits for:
- Watering new lawns,
- Watering newly planted trees and shrubs, and
- Filling new pools.
The Community Patrol will be present throughout the municipality to ensure compliance with the water restrictions.
- The watering restrictions do not affect the manual watering of vegetable gardens and edible plants in the ground or in pots, or the watering of gardens, flowers, and other plants.
- Watering permits issued up to May 31st remain valid. Please ensure they are posted in a visible location.
By suspending non-essential water uses, we can ensure that the available water supply is used primarily for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and, most importantly, firefighting.
We understand that these water restrictions may cause some inconvenience. Please be mindful of your water usage during this time and adhere to these temporary restrictions. Your efforts will contribute to preserving our water resources and the well-being of our community.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@ville.hudson.qc.ca.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and commitment to responsibly using our shared water resources.
