Preparing for a Freezing Rain Event
It is important to be prepared when faced with an emergency situation. In the event of a severe weather storm or unforeseen circumstance, you should be ready to be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours.
How to Prepare
- Make sure that your 72 hour emergency kit is complete.
- Replace any missing items in your kit ahead of the event.
- Have de-icing salt on hand to secure your emergency exits.
- Plan ahead for what you will need in the event of a power outage.
- Postpone any non-essential travel.
These weather conditions could result in power outages, and we strongly recommend preparing accordingly. It is important to charge your cell phones and essential devices in advance, and check that your sump pump and your generator are in proper working order, if applicable.
