Call for Nominations for the Town Planning Advisory Committee (TPAC)

The Town of Hudson is looking for residents interested in getting involved in its Town Planning Advisory Committee (TPAC). Following the departure of members, we are looking for two (2) new members motivated to join TPAC.

1. Committee mandate
The TPAC is an advisory body that provides recommendations to town council on matters related to land use planning and development. Its responsibilities include:

Reviewing applications related to minor exemptions and projects subject to the Site Planning and Architectural Integration Program (SPAIP);
Evaluating projects based on planning regulations, urban integration, and design quality;
Providing recommendations to Council to support sound and coherent land use planning decisions;
Contributing to the preservation of the municipality’s character and built environment;
Advising Council on planning policies when required.

2. Committee composition and operations
The committee is composed of:

2 town council members, one of whom is designated as Chair and presides over committee meetings;
7 resident-members;
1 representative of the town administration serving as committee coordinator (non-voting);
The Mayor, as an ex officio member (non-voting).

The committee meets behind closed doors and meets once a month, generally on the first Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held in hybrid format (in-person and virtual).

3. Desired profile
Candidates should be:

A resident, as is required for all voting members;
Interested in urban planning, architecture, heritage, environment or land use;
Able to demonstrate good judgement and analytical skills;
Able to review plans and make objective recommendations;
Available to attend the monthly meetings and review documents in advance;
Willing to commit to a two-year term.

Appointed members will be required to undergo mandatory training in urban planning, in accordance with the legal requirements applicable to town planning advisory committees.

The goal of the committee is to reflect the diversity of the community. Applications from candidates from underrepresented backgrounds or sectors may be given special consideration to enhance representativity and collective enrichment.

4. How to apply
Interested parties are invited to submit a short letter of introduction or expression of interest no later than April 13, 2026, to Ms. Melissa Francis, Urban Planning division head, by e-mail to mfrancis@ville.hudson.qc.ca

5. Selection process
The selection committee consists of the Chair of the Committee and a representative of the municipal administration. Candidates will be invited to interviews in April 2026.

All candidates selected by the committee will be recommended to Town Council, which will make its final decision by resolution at a town council meeting.
