Call for applications: project to modernize the Town of Hudson’s visual identity

The Town of Hudson, rich in history and culture, is pleased to announce the launch of a project to modernize its visual identity. In the coming months, Hudson will update its visual identity, including a refreshed logo that embodies the Town’s values and distinctive character.

Why a new logo?

  • The Town currently uses several logos along with a traditional coat of arms. This complicates our visual identity. The goal is to establish a unified brand that is recognizable, authentic, and aligned with Hudson’s values.
  • This modernization aims to enhance Hudson’s visibility and consistency:
    • Modernizing Hudson’s logo and overall visual identity;
    • Establishing clear graphic standards;
    • Creating a comprehensive brand guide.
  • Once finalized, the new logo will be gradually implemented across various Town platforms and communication tools.
    • The Town will update logos as necessary. Signage, vehicles, equipment, and stationery will progressively adopt the new design, either during regular replacements or as new items are acquired.

Process highlights:
Phase 1: November 5 to 22, 2024: Call for applications
Graphic artists residing in Hudson are invited to submit their portfolios. Previous experience in logo design, while not a requirement, is an asset. Applications can be sent to communications@ville.hudson.qc.ca until 4 pm, Friday November 22, 2024.

Phase 2: December 1, 2024 – January 17, 2025: Competition

  • Three local graphic artists and three design firms will be invited to create a draft logo proposal in a paid competition.
  • An amount of $1000/submission will be paid.
  • Firms will have 20 minutes to present their proposal to the selection committee.
  • One proposal will be chosen from those received.
  • The selected firm will be asked to submit a service proposal for the third stage.

Phase 3: February – April 2025: Design of logo and public vote

  • The selected firm will develop two logos to present to Council.
  • Once approved, these two versions will be put to a public vote; the winning design will become the logo for the town.
  • Deliverables include a graphic standards guide, mood board, graphic formats, design templates, etc.
