Notice to Residents – Temporary Water Discolouration

We are aware that some areas of the municipality are currently experiencing discoloured water. This temporary situation is the result of turbulence in the aqueduct network caused by recent urgent repair work, valve manipulations on Lakeview, and the unauthorized opening of several fire hydrants. At the same time, a neighbouring municipality also conducted urgent work on its own water system, which further contributed to the disturbance.

Although the water may appear discoloured, please be assured that it is regularly tested in accordance with strict regulations from the Ministry of the Environment and remains safe for consumption. The system is expected to stabilize shortly, and water clarity should gradually return to normal.

What to do if your water is discoloured:

  • Run the cold water from an exterior tap for five (5) to ten (10) minutes until the water runs clear.
  • Avoid using hot water during this time, as it may draw discoloured water into your hot-water tank.
  • Postpone laundry or dishwasher use until the water has cleared, to prevent staining.

Our team is taking every possible measure to remediate the situation. Please note that, regretfully, episodes of discoloured water may continue to occur until the network is fully stabilized through a complete flushing program. A scheduled flushing of the filtration plant and the distribution network will be carried out over the next month, which is expected to improve water clarity in the system.

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
