Flushing of the aqueduct network – October 14 to November 7, 2025

The Public Works team will flush the aqueduct network beginning on Tuesday, October 14th. The process will take place on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is expected to be completed by Friday, November 7th.

Consult the MAP to follow the progress of this operation.

Why flush the system? Flushing the aqueduct system removes the mineral sediments (including iron and rust particles) that the water has deposited on the inside walls of pipes. This process also maintains the quality of our drinking water. The regular maintenance of our aqueduct ensures that our network is in good working order, including street valves and fire hydrants.

Flushing the network may cause:

  • A temporary drop in water pressure, which may result in little or no water coming from your taps,
  • Discoloration of the water due to the detachment of iron particles.

Use of tap water during this period:

If your water appears discoloured, it is preferable for you to either

  • run the cold water until it becomes clear (this may take up to 30 minutes) or
  • wait until after 7 pm to do laundry, wash the dishes, etc.

A reminder to never leave an open faucet unattended.
