TITLE OF TALK: Art therapy: Using the creative process in the rehabilitation of people suffering from psychiatric and psychological disorders
DESCRIPTION OF TALK:
Andrea will provide us with insight on how she creates her artwork, and will also will explain the process of assisting those suffering from debilitating mental health conditions.
The Hub is pleased and honored to welcome Andrea Blanar as our February “Hub Talks” guest speaker. Andrea is a Hudson resident and is a renowned visual artist and art therapist. She holds a BA in Psychology from Sir George Williams and a BFA from Concordia University, as well as having undertaken further art studies in Japan and Canada. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions and her paintings are held in the collections of many prestigious organizations and private residences. She is the recipient of awards and grants for her art therapy and advocacy work and for community service. She has had a wide experience as a University Lecturer and workshop animator in Japan and Canada. A selection of her unique and extraordinary paintings is currently on display at the Hub.
