A morning on Everest

August 10 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

$20

This August 10th, please join us for a Morning on Everest with Nepali mountaineer Phunjo Lama, the fastest woman ever to climb the world’s highest mountain. A two-time Everest Summiteer, Phunjo set the woman’s speed ascent record on May 23-4, 2024, with a time to the summit of 14 hours, 31 minutes. She is the first woman to climb Mt. Cho Oyu solo and without oxygen, and has summited Mts. Lhotse, Manaslu, Amdablam and Lobuche, in the Himalayas, Denali in Alaska, plus many lesser peaks internationally. In this fascinating morning of high drama, Phunjo describes her astonishing rise from an orphaned yak-herder growing up in the extreme remote Tibetan-Nepali border region, to a modern climbing legend breaking new trail for Indigenous women on the world’s highest mountains, the ‘eight-thousanders’. Recipient of numerous rewards, Phunko is also her country’s first and only female helicopter long-line sling rescuer— bungeeing off helicopters to pluck stranded climbers from mountains at altitudes barely supporting flight.

The event’s Master of Ceremonies is Ottawa-based Everest summiteer and internationally acclaimed outdoor filmmaker and expedition leader Ben Webster, whose documentaries have aired on ABC, RDS, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, History Channel, Travel Channel, CBC and others. Ben’s credits from five successful Everest expeditions and several decades of travel to Nepal include producing the very first live broadband television broadcast from the summit back to North American networks. Ben’s six-part series Ultimate Survival Everest is currently airing on Amazon Prime Video

Also featuring a breathwork exercise with Diana Perez.
