Montréal, August 12 2024. –The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility informs road users that the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, connecting Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion along Highway 40 (Félix-Leclerc), will be closed during the upcoming weekend, from August 16 to 19. This closure is required as part of maintenance work, specifically for the installation of a membrane and asphalt paving operations on the bridge.

Planned closures from Friday, August 16, at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, August 19, at 5 a.m.

On Highway 40, between Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion:

  • Complete closure of Highway 40 westbound between Exit 41 – Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue/boul. des Anciens-Combattants/Highway 20 westbound/Île Perrot and the entrance from Saint-Charles Avenue.
    • Westbound access to Senneville Road will be maintained for users needing to reach this area.

    • The ramp from Highway 40 to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be closed at the interchange with Highway 30. Users are encouraged to use Highways 20 and 30.
  • At the end of these complete closures, on Monday, August 19, at 5 AM, three lanes will be available on the bridge, including two towards Montreal for the morning rush hour thanks to dynamic traffic management.

Detours will be marked with temporary signage.

During this closure, the population is invited to use public transportation and take advantage of the mitigation measures in place due to the obstacles at the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge. The toll will also be suspended in both directions on Highway 30 to provide an alternative. The Ministry recommends that road users travelling in the area allow more time to reach their destination.

Work may be postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions or operational constraints. Therefore, before taking to the road, we recommend you consult Québec 511, a practical tool to help you plan your travel.

The Ministry thanks road users for their cooperation. For your safety and that of other workers, it is essential to respect the signage in place.
