15 Dec Call for applications: Economic Development Committee
The Town of Hudson invites engaged individuals to contribute to local economic vitality by joining its new Economic Development Committee, an advisory committee to the Town Council. This committee’s mandate is to support local development and enhance the economic vitality of the community for a one-year term.
We welcome applications from merchants, restaurateurs, tourism actors, representatives of non-profit organizations, event organizers, and any resident interested in getting involved.
1. Committee mandate
The Economic Development Committee is advisory and provides recommendations to the Town Council. Its main responsibilities include:
- advising Town Council on economic development priorities, with special attention to the village core, commercial corridors and tourism experience;
- supporting the coherent implementation of the Parks and Green Spaces Master Plan, Cultural Policy, Conservation Plan, and branding efforts, from an economic vitality perspective;
- serving as a formal table for dialogue with merchants, restaurateurs, tourism actors, non-profit organizations and event organizers;
- coordinating with Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges on regional initiatives, funding opportunities and business support;
- contributing to the drafting and follow-up of a yearly Economic Vitality Report.
2. Committee composition and operations
The committee is composed of:
- 2 Town Council members;
- 6 to 9 members from the community, including merchants, restaurateurs, tourism actors, representatives of non-profit organizations, event organizers, etc.;
- 1 Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges representative, serving as a liaison (non-voting);
- 1 representative of the municipal administration serving as the committee coordinator (non-voting);
- The Mayor, as an ex officio member.
The committee will meet once a month, in the morning, at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday). Meetings will be held in hybrid format (in-person and virtual).
3. Desired profile
Candidates should be:
- motivated to actively contribute to local economic development;
- available to attend meetings;
- willing to commit to a one-year term.
The goal of the committee is to reflect the diversity of the community and the various economic and cultural sectors. Applications from candidates from underrepresented backgrounds or sectors may be given special consideration to enhance representativity and collective enrichment.
4. How to apply
Interested parties are invited to submit a short letter of introduction or expression of interest no later than January 9, 2026, to Ms. Melissa Francis, Urban Planning division head, by e-mail to mfrancis@ville.hudson.qc.ca.
5. Selection process
The selection committee consists of the elected members of the Economic Development Committee and a representative of the municipal administration. The candidates will be invited to interviews in January 2026.
All candidates selected by the committee will be recommended to Town Council, which will make its final decision at the January 27, 2026, Town Council meeting.
