Ban on open-air fires as of October 1, 2025

On October 1st, SOPFEU issued an open-air fire ban throughout the Montérégie territory. This includes Hudson.

What this means for residents:

Whenever the risk of fire within the territory covered by the Town of Hudson, is indicated as EXTREME by SOPFEU, only outdoor cooking equipment fitted with a lid may be used.

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • Light open-air or large-scale fires
  • Use outdoor fireplaces
  • Use sparklers, fireworks, sky lanterns, or any device that releases sparks, including smoking on trails.

Fines:

  • First offence: $300 to $1,000 (individuals), $600 to $2,000 (businesses/organizations)
  • Fines are doubled for repeat offences.
