Water restrictions in effect from August 13 to September 2, 2025

Protect Our Water – Every Drop Counts

Safe, high-quality drinking water is one of our most precious resources — yet it’s something we often take for granted.
This summer, excessive water use, combined with oppressive heat and low rainfall, has put serious pressure on Hudson’s water supply. To protect this vital resource, water restrictions will be in effect across the entire Town starting Wednesday, August 13.

Why These Restrictions Matter

They’re designed to:

  • Preserve the aquifer that supplies our drinking water,
  • Protect the integrity of water facilities,
  • Ensure enough water for essential needs — drinking, sanitation, and firefighting,
  • Safeguard public health and safety, and
  • Reduce the risks of shortages or other emergencies.

By following the rules, you’re helping keep water available for everyone.

What’s Allowed

  • Watering flowers and vegetable gardens with a hand-held spray gun equipped with an automatic shut-off,
  • Adjusting the water level in swimming pools or spas.

What’s Prohibited

  • Any other outdoor use of water, including but not limited to:
  • Watering lawns, trees, and shrubs,
  • Filling pools or spas,
  • Washing vehicles, windows, driveways, etc.

Enforcement

Inspectors will be patrolling throughout the Town. Violators will receive fines.

These restrictions apply to all properties served by Hudson’s drinking water network and remain in effect until September 2. The situation will be reassessed at that time.

Together, we can protect our water — for our homes, for our health, and for firefighting needs.
