Electoral District Number 3 – Hudson Centre
GENERAL INFORMATION
On Sunday, May 3, electors of District 3 – “Hudson Centre” will be invited to exercise their duty as citizens during the municipal By‑Election. As required by law, the Town Council declared the seat vacant at the council meeting held on February 24, 2026. The position of Councillor for District 3 – “Hudson Centre” will therefore be open to nominations.

VERIFY

Make sure that your name is entered on the list of electors and that your information is correct. You have the responsibility to do so.
During the electoral period, make sure your name appears on the notice sent by the municipality. If it is missing, go to the location indicated on the notice to register or update your information. To vote, your name must be on the electoral list. For more information, contact the Returning Office of the Town of Hudson.
If your residence is not located in the municipality, but you own a property (cottage, apartment building, etc.) or occupy a business establishment, you can check your registration on the electoral list with your Returning Officer: elections@ville.hudson.qc.ca
NOMINATION PERIOD
The nomination period runs from March 20 to April 3 at 4:30 p.m. Interested candidates are invited to review the Guide to Becoming a Candidate, complete their nomination form, obtain the required supporting signatures, and schedule an appointment with the Returning Officer to officially submit their candidacy. GOVERNANCE
Elections are governed by the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities. They are fixed-date elections, held on the first Sunday of November every four years.

Important dates

Authorization of an elector who undertakes to run as an independent candidate.
Friday, March 20
Beginning of the nomination period.
Friday, April 3
• Last day to file a nomination paper; from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Proclamation of the election of the candidate elected without opposition (if applicable).
• Confirmation of position up for election (if applicable).
Sunday, March 29
Last day to receive applications for entry and powers of attorney of non-domiciled electors before the filing of the electoral list. Applications received after this date will be forwarded to the Board of Revisors.

Wednesday, April 15th, from 5 pm to 10 pm
Monday, April 20th, from 1 pm to 6 pm

• Announcement of results as soon as possible; approximately 10 p.m., at the Community Centre.
Candidates
Every candidate must file a nomination paper with the returning officer. This filing must be done between March 20 and April 3, 2026, by appointment, by contacting her directly by email at elections@ville.hudson.qc.ca or by phone at 450-458-5347 #1121.

At the end of the nomination period, that is, on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 4:30 p.m., if only one nomination has been received for the position of Councillor of District 3, that candidate will be declared elected by acclamation.

The electoral district map available above is an administrative version for consultation only. The official version of the map is kept at Town Hall along with the official copy of By-law 766-2024.
In the event of a discrepancy between an administrative version and the official version, the official version prevails. In the event of a discrepancy between the French and English versions, the French version prevails.

Qualified voters
To vote, a person must be registered on the municipal electoral list.
- Every voter is responsible for ensuring their registration on the electoral list in order to exercise their right to vote.
- Anyone who is not registered on the electoral list, but who is eligible, may submit a registration request to the revision committee. (This section of the website is under development. Updates will follow shortly)
Conditions to vote :
To qualify as a voter, you must meet the following conditions on election day, May 3, 2026:
- Be a natural person;
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Be a Canadian citizen;
- Not have lost the right to vote due to guardianship;
- Not have been found guilty of an electoral fraud offense in the past five years;
- Have your residence in the Town of Hudson and,
- For at least six months, in Quebec, or, for at least 45 days, be the owner of a property or occupy a business establishment located in the Town of Hudson.
Legal entities do not vote in municipal elections.
To exercise their right to vote, a voter must prove their identity using one of the following documents:
- A driver’s licence or probationary licence issued by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec;
- A health insurance card issued by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec;
- A Canadian passport;
- A Certificate of Indian Status;
- An identification card issued by the Canadian Forces.
