Policy strengths and benefits :
Hudson is a picturesque town situated 60 kilometres west of Montreal and 150 kilometres east of Ottawa. Officially founded in 1865, the Town was inhabited long before. Greenwood House in Hudson was built nearly 300 years ago during the regime of New France! In 2015, the Town celebrated its 150th anniversary and major festivities were staged throughout the year for the occasion.

Hudson has a unique character that distinguishes it from the rest of the region. Bordered to the north by the Ottawa River, the Town has a thriving arts community and enjoys a beautiful natural setting. Its quiet, rural landscape attracts a large number of artists and musicians who draw inspiration from the locale.
Placing the arts at the centre of the community and its vision of the future, Hudson hosts many exhilarating events and cultural venues. Every summer for a whole week, the Hudson Music Festival attracts many tourists to the Town. For over 20 years, the Village Theatre has offered a varied annual program to playgoers, and the Hudson Museum recounts the fascinating story of this small village.

The bilingual status of the Town unites its flourishing anglophone and francophone community which numbers around 5,400. Residents and visitors alike enjoy Hudson for its quaint shops and gourmet restaurants.
Hudson’s beautiful natural scenery encourages a healthy, outdoor lifestyle with many nature trails. Le Nichoir, a well known wild bird rehabilitation centre, is located in the municipal wildlife reserve and is dedicated to its environmental values.

With its vibrant cultural community, Hudson is a great place to live and a favourite tourist destination for lovers of the visual arts, music and culture — a place where you can immerse yourself in a beautiful, pastoral setting.
