29 Sep Fire Prevention Week: October 9 to 15
This year, fire prevention week will take place between Oct 9th and Oct 15th 2016.
The Hudson Fire Department will be conducting evacuation exercises in all schools and daycares within our town.
We will also be visiting all classes and giving presentations to the children about fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency.
Your child will be receiving information about evacuations at home in the event of a smoke detector activating. If not already done, please prepare an evacuation plan with your family and practice it as often as possible.
On Wednesday Oct 12th starting at approx. 18:30, the Fire Department will be driving around town with sirens on to simulate a detector going off in your home. Please take this opportunity to practice your evacuation plan with your family. Unfortunately we cannot do every street in one evening, so if you hear the sirens but don’t see a fire truck, you can still use this time to practice your evacuation.
On Saturday Oct 15th from 9:00-12:00, the Fire Department will be holding an open house at the fire station at 529 Main rd. We will be there to answer any questions you may have about fire safety and how the Fire Department operates as well as giving truck and station tours.
As a reminder, please make sure you have at least one working smoke detector per floor in your home and that the expiry date is not overdue. Also, we recommend changing your batteries twice a year.
Please contact us at 450-458-5190 ext. 134 or at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions that you may have about fire safety.
