Maudie, based on a true story, is an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie (Sally Hawkins) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. The film was screened in July to over 200 viewers but there were many who were unable to attend and there were requests to repeat the film and Monday, August 28 was set aside in the Village Theatre for a matinee and evening
performance – 2.00 and 7.30 pm. If you saw and enjoyed Maudie, tell your friends or simply come and see it again. Tickets are available through the Village Theatre box office, online or at the Theatre.
