Our second concert on November 19, 2017 features American Andrew Sords, with Luke Severn on cello and Cheryl Duval on piano.
His Canadian tour in 2015 with the Mendelssohn Piano Trios and Violin Sonata will be reprised with Cheryl Duvall and Luke Severn in 2017 with the Brahms Trio Cycle in Ottawa, Montreal (Hudson), Guelph, and Toronto.
Following a decade in the spotlight, American violinist Andrew Sords has garnered accolades on 4 continents for his performances combining visceral virtuosity and ravishing tone. Hailed in the press as “a fully formed artist” (Kalisz-Poland News), “utterly radiant” (Canada’s Arts Forum), and “exceptionally heartfelt and soulful” (St. Maarten’s Daily Herald), Sords has received numerous awards and distinctions reflecting his career trajectory, including the Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Career Grant, the National Shirley Valentin Award, and the NFMC Young Artist Award. A recent debut with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra (Arensky concerto) prompted Opus Colorado to declare: “[Sords’] remarkably flexible bow arm and relaxed left hand created the impression that he was having no difficulty whatsoever”.
All concerts take place at 4 pm on Sunday afternoons in the beautiful setting of St. James Church Hall, 642 Main Rd., Hudson.
Admission to these first class performances remains at a very modest level ($25 adults / $20 seniors, for tickets at the door). However it is well worth buying season tickets for the four concerts as there is a 30% or 32% saving ($70 adult / $55 senior). The official 2017/18 season launch will be in early September 2017 after which season tickets can be ordered by contacting Anne Drake or Karen Bradley: Hudson Chamber Music Festival
