SUMMARY:The Great Escape: October 9\, 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm
DESCRIPTION:Be a Fire Prevention Superhero and participate in The Great Escape on Wednesday\, October 9\, 2024! \nWe invite you to participate in this year’s Great Escape exercise. \nGreat Escape is an excellent opportunity for your family to test their fire evacuation plan. \nEvery year\, fire departments in Québec drive around in their town with their lights and sirens activated to simulate your smoke detector sounding. When you hear the fire trucks coming\, we invite you to put your fire safety evacuation plan into effect\, exit your home\, and meet at one common area away from the house. This is an opportunity to practice your fire drill to see if everyone knows what to do in an emergency. \nOn Wednesday\, October 9\, 2024\, from 6 pm to 8 pm\, \nThe Hudson Fire Department will be driving around the town with lights and sirens activated to simulate the sound of your smoke detector. \nPlease come out and show us you are prepared for a fire emergency. \nBe prepared! Use the EVACUATION PLANNER to plan your evacuation. The time you spend practicing your evacuation plan could make the difference in a real fire emergency. \nFor more info\, call the fire prevention department @ 450-458-5347\, ext 5225 or email prevention@ville.hudson.qc.ca. \nWe hope to see you during The Great Escape!

SUMMARY:Hub Talks: Christopher Labos
DESCRIPTION:HUB TALKS SUNDAY OCTOBER 20TH @ 2 PM \nPresenter:   Christopher Labos\, MD\, MSc – Associate \nWe are delighted to announce that our Hub Talks presenter for October will be Montreal cardiologist and epidemiologist Dr. Christopher Labos\, who will discuss his 2023 book “Does Coffee Cause Cancer?  And 8 more myths about the food we eat”.  The book is a fascinating and refreshing clarification of food myths\, which describes how sloppy science perpetuates misconceptions about food. \nThis talk promises to be lively and highly informative.  There will be opportunities for the audience to ask  Dr. Labos any questions they may have on the subject of healthy nutrition and how it affects our well-being\, a topic that is so relevant to us all. \nWe hope you will be able to attend and look forward to welcoming you to HUB TALKS. \nBIOGRAPHY: \nDr. Labos is a cardiologist who holds a Master’s degree in epidemiology.  He is a regular contributor to the Montreal Gazette\, CJAD radio\, CTV Montreal\, and CBC’s Morning Live.  He blogs for Medscape and co-hosts an award-winning podcast The Body of Evidence. \nBy his own description\, he spends most of his time doing things that he doesn’t get paid for\, like doing research\, teaching\, and podcasting.  Occasionally\, he finds time to practice as a cardiologist so he can pay his rent.  He realizes that half of his research findings will be disproved in five years:  he just doesn’t know which half!  To date\, no one has recognized him on the street. \nTickets (20$) available on line and at the door. \n
